MOTORMOND – Archive Radio

Episode 001 The first episode of Archive Radio by Motormond is an audio intervention that sounds out our current exhibition; Flight is Organizing Towards Flight. Flight is Organizing Towards Flight comes as a staggering reminder that in the fight for freedom, there is no there there. Freedom is only reached in the process of fighting for that same said freedom. Flight is Organizing Towards Flight is archival in its mode of operation. We have worked with various archival institutions to compile a generous amount of posters that were created to fight Dutch settler colonialism. In the coming months, we will look at posters from South Africa, Indonesia, and Suriname. The first iteration of the exhibition is focused on South Africa. To give the posters context, we have gathered radio programs, speeches, songs and photographs that were pivotal in the various independence movements. A political mood emerges that is not didactic in its position but rather ephemeral. Archive radio 001 is made possible through a collaboration with MOTORMOND, IDFA , Echobox Radio and Het Documenaire Paviljoen. Collaborators: Musoke Nalwoga, Sophie Doula, Lisedi Mogoatlhe, Rolien Zonneveld, and Hande Esiroglu
